The pulses division of Canterbury Seed is managed by Adrian Bliss who has 33 years experience in the grain and seed industry. Adrian spent 8 years as the manager of the seed processing plant for Canterbury Seed and is now responsible for all pulse production and sales.

Mark Burns - General Manager Commodities & Seed Grain

Mark is a key member of the team with over 30 years experience in the grain and seed industry. He is responsible for the commodities trading and working with our overseas partners on introducing new wheat and barley cultivars to New Zealand. Mark also manages small seed trading of common varietals of ryegrass and clover for export and multiplication of overseas ryegrasses for re-export.

Mark Collie - Seed Production Manager

Mark began his career in the seed industry in 1997. He has been involved in every aspect of small seed and hybrid brassica production from the single plant breeder level though large scale seed production. He has spent time in both New Zealand and Canada working with genetically modified and conventional crop production.

Simon Fleetwood - Field Representative Canterbury North

New to Canterbury Seed in 2009, Simon has experience in grain and seed agronomy and will extend this and his knowedge in his role at Canterbury Seed. Working alongside our other field representatives, Simon will focus on developing new business in the North Canterbury region.

Peter Leggett - Field Representative South Canterbury

Peter has over 43 years experience in the grain and seed industry. For the past 12 years he has been the sole field rep. for Canterbury Seed from the Rangitata River to Southland, contracting and providing agronomic advice for a wide range of crops. Peter has a vast range of knowledge and experience in a wide range of crops with varying climatic, geographic and market situations.

Dave Loomes - Arable Specialist

Dave has over 30 years experience in the New Zealand grain and small seed industry. He spent 10 years with A.B. Annand & CO. in the South Canterbury region, then managed Agricom's small seed production for 7 years before forming his own independent seed production company 4 years ago. He has formed invaluable relationships with many arable farmers in Canterbury which makes him an excellent advisor for Canterbury Seed.

Peter Miller - Field Representative Canterbury

Peter has been a field representative with the Canterbury Seed since 1992. He comes from a grain and seed background having being brought up on a mixed cropping and dairy farm. Every season brings a fresh challenge and Peter believes that with both the grower and the company invested in crop performance it's important that the agronomic knowledge and experience of both parties is called upon.

Gerald Small - Field Representative Ashburton South

Gerald has been with Canterbury Seed since 1991 and in the arable industry since the early 1970's. He covers the area south of the Rangitata River and is mainly involved with crop procurement, but services his clients with crop management and grain/seed sales as well. Gerald has a keen interest in monitoring and recording weather patterns - a good skill to have in the arable industry.

Mike Smith - Grain Purchasing & Relationships Manager

Mike has been involved in the arable industry for over 20 years, managing Canterbury flour mills for 17 years and being responsible for their marketing and raw materials contracting and purchasing. He has a respectable background in flour milling and knows the importance of various grains to these industries.

Chris Thomas - General Manager Grain

Chris has over 35 years experience in the flour milling and wheat industry in addition to being a qualified flour miller. He was a general manager of Weston Milling, Wellington before leaving to form Ashburton Grain Consolidators (AGC). He has great rapport with both growers and end customers backed up by his sound knowledge of the industry and market.
