The new grain and seed division of Canterbury Seed has experienced staff with expert knowledge of New Zealand's milling and grain industry with the ability to connect sellers and buyers effectively.

Key Personnel

Chris started in the flour milling industry in 1969, packing flour at Timaru Milling Company. He has over 35 years experience in the flour milling and wheat industry and Chris is a qualified flour miller. Chris was General Manager of Weston Milling Wellington before leaving to form Ashburton Grain Consolidators (AGC). Chris helped to establish AGC as a key supplier in the New Zealand grain market within just two years of the company forming. Chris has great rapport with both growers and end customers backed up by his sound knowledge of the industry and markets.

Mike has been involved in the arable industry for over 20 years. He managed Canterbury flour mills for 17 years and was also responsible for their marketing and raw materials contracting and purchasing.During this time Mike spent several years on the NZ Flour Millers Research Committee and had considerable input into various research and plant breeding programmes.He has a respectable background in both flour and feed milling and the importance of various grains to these industries. Currently he is involved in managing a biscuit wheat breeding programme that is jointly funded by the Flour Millers Association from which we are hopeful of producing at least one cultivar to meet the needs of New Zealand biscuit manufacturers.
