Envirominder is a biological additive in powder form which reduces odour emissions, troublesome solids, and improves nutrient retention in animal wastes stored in effluent ponds.
Unless manure stored in a lagoon is properly mechanically agitated, light particles float to the top where they can dry out and form a crust. A crust causes a physical problem when the effluent pond needs to be emptied. Crusts also prevent oxygen from reaching the lower layers and slow the rate of manure degradation. Fermentation in the absence of air releases a lot of foul smelling compounds into and from manure, adding to the odour problem associated with ponds. Manure can be a useful source of fertiliser, but nitrogen losses before the slurry can be applied to paddocks range from 25 to 80% - especially in effluent pond systems.
The regular use of Envirominder will help liquefy manure solids, eliminate surface crusting, degrade bottom sludge and greatly reduce the foul odours and nitrogen losses from ponds and pits.

Envirominder contains bacteria that produce powerful digestive enzymes that break down the organic matter in manure. Envirominder enzymes promote biochemical processes that reduce odour and preserve nutrients (P and K but especially N) either by converting what would be smelly compounds into microbial protein or by suppressing the activities of the bacteria that produce foul odours. The use of Envirominder will also reduce the coliform level in effluent pond slurry because solids digestion is increased.
Envirominder contains only naturally occurring, unmodified bacteria and enzymes selected for their viability and activity. None of the components in Envirominder are harmful to plants, animals or the environment.
No special precautions are required in the handling of Envirominder other than normal good agricultural practice for the use of powdered products. Envirominder should be mixed with manure or water for optimum distribution prior to being added to the effluent pond. For ponds that are already one-third to one-half full, apply Envirominder at the rate of 1 kg per 650,000 litres. Mix the total amount of Envirominder with 10 times the volume of liquid manure or water and then pump into the lagoon from the sides to ensure a good distribution. Subsequent applications should be made on a regular basis at the rate of 0.5 kg of Envirominder per 650,000 litres of slurry - either apply as above or add directly to slurry before entering the lagoon every three to four weeks. Do not apply Envirominder to effluent ponds that are nearly full or ready for emptying. For best results Envirominder should be used as part of a complete waste management program. Treatment should start as the lagoon begins to fill and should be continued on a regular basis, ideally every two to four weeks. | ![]() |
