Purchased by the Carr Agricultural Group in 2000, Winslow Feeds Ltd, located 6km south of Ashburton, has undergone many improvements in recent years. Strategically placed in the grain bowl of New Zealand, the site is ideal for producing top quality feeding solutions for dairy, sheep, beef and deer farms.

Winslow Feeds have the unique ability to produce high fibre pellets for specialist markets such as live animal exports. Manufacturing high fibre products outside the main dairy and calf seasons has allowed Winslow Feeds to remain competitive without diversifying into monogastric feeds. By producing solely ruminant stock feeds, Winslow Feeds has an absolute guarantee of clean feeds from its factory,with no risk of cross-species contamination.

Winslow Feeds produces molassed meals and rolled barley but the majority of feed is pelleted. Finely ground mash is conditioned with steam and forced through dies - 5mm or 10mm diameter openings - under considerable pressure and temperature, which binds the particles together and forms them into pellets. Grinding the feed before pelleting ensures good utilisation by ruminants. Compounding together the different feeding materials allows ingredients to be selected and blended in exact proportion to best meet the needs of the livestock for which they are intended. Thorough mixing ensures that micro nutrients such as trace elements, which are required in tiny amounts, are accurately and evenly distributed throughout the feed. Although extensively automated and computerised, Winslow Feeds still relies on the human touch to ensure feed is consistently of the highest quality.

Winslow Feeds' efficient coolers lower the temperature of the pellets quickly, eliminating the risk of pellets sweating after delivery. Wooden boxes with liners provide flexible storage of finished feed in a dedicated building and enable fast efficient loading of bulk wagons. All rations are formulated by Winslow Feeds' own nutritionist who constantly reviews their performance with customers in addition to confirming that the specifications are accurate through independent laboratory testing. Winslow Feeds believes that animal feed manufacturing does not end at the mill gate, their sales team are fully dedicated to ensuring that their products meet the customers'expectations. The close relationships that have been established with clients also allow sharing of husbandry and animal health recommendations for successfull farming and peace of mind.
